Updated

Every publication has its own web address. Copy it from the project tile in the Workspace and share it by email, chat, newsletter or social media. Readers open the PDF in their browser, without an account or an app.

  1. Open the Workspace and find the project.
  2. The address is shown next to Link on the project tile.
  3. Right-click the address (on a phone: press and hold it) and copy the link. Or click Open PDF and copy the address from your browser’s address bar.
  4. Paste the link into your email, message or post.

The address looks like this: viewnamic.com/publication/profile/publication/. The first part comes from your profile name and never changes. The last part comes from the name of the publication at upload; a “/” in the name becomes a hyphen there (“Katalog 2026/27” → katalog-2026-27).

Who can open the link depends on the access mode. With Link only and Public page, anyone who has the link can open it. With Secure, the normal link is locked, and you send personal links instead (Share a PDF securely).

  1. Open the project’s ⋯ menu and choose Customize Link.
  2. Enter the new last part of the link, for example spring-catalogue-2027.
  3. Click Save link.

Use letters, digits and hyphens, up to 190 characters. Capital letters become lowercase and accented letters plain ones (é becomes e, ü becomes u – in the German Workspace ä, ö and ü become ae, oe and ue), ß becomes ss; spaces and other characters become hyphens. If you leave the field empty, the default link made from the publication’s name is used again.

Links you already shared keep working: the old address forwards readers to the new one, also in website embeds and with a page number (#page=…, see Link to a specific page). Only if another publication of the profile takes the old link later does the old address open that publication.

To change the names and links of several projects at once, click Select next to the project filters, choose the projects and click Names & links. The same rules apply there; a link field you empty gets the default link again.

For magazines, menus or catalogues that appear regularly, you can keep one link and move it to the newest edition:

  1. Upload the new edition.
  2. Open its ⋯ menu, choose Customize Link, enter the link of the current edition and click Save link.
  3. Viewnamic tells you that another project uses this link. Click Move Link.

The link now opens the new edition. The previous edition automatically receives a new archive link. Website embeds with the option Reusable public link follow the move (Embed a PDF on your website).

Good to know

  • To open a certain page, add #page= and the page number to the end of the link, for example …/#page=5.
  • In chats and on social media, the link shows a preview with the title, a short description and usually the cover. You can set the title and description yourself (Get your PDF found in search engines).

Custom publication links are included in every plan, also in the free trial.

Questions

Does the link change when I rename the project?

No. Renaming changes only the name. The link stays the same until you change it with Customize Link.

Do old links still work after I change the link?

Yes. The old address forwards readers to the new one – in emails, on printed QR codes and in website embeds. Only if another publication of the profile takes the old link does it open that publication. After a project is deleted, its old addresses no longer open it.

Can I see how often the link was opened?

Yes, in the publication’s statistics, if your plan includes statistics. They are part of Premium and Tailored.

Can a project name contain a slash?

Yes. The name keeps it, for example “Katalog 2026/27”. In the link the slash becomes a hyphen (katalog-2026-27), because a slash would split the address.
