About this example

Our example paper shows what a scientific publication gains when its figures can move. It is a regular PDF of a scientific paper – Viewnamic adds the media on top of the pages, so the manuscript itself stays untouched.

The paper contains figures such as a four-stroke engine and a DNA strand. Videos play directly on the figures they explain, and readers rotate a 3D molecule right on the page – with the mouse, a trackpad or a finger. Everything happens inside the reading flow: nobody has to open a separate supplementary file to see the process behind a figure.

Readers open the paper in any modern browser via a link – no download, plugin or account required. Every publication also has a reading mode: a structured text version on the same URL that works well with screen readers and lets search engines understand the content, if indexing is allowed.

The same approach works for theses, lecture notes, course material and reports – wherever a process or a structure is easier to show than to describe.
